- Provides direct care for residents in accordance with nursing guidelines; and provides supervision of certified nurse aides.
- Must have thorough knowledge of general nursing theory and practices including knowledge of drugs, biological, physical, social and medical science and their application for better understanding of resident care problems.
- Must be alert and skilled in recognizing and identifying symptoms and must utilize excellent judgment in initiating proper intervention for unusual or unfavorable resident conditions.
- Prepares and administers medication and treatment as prescribed and keeps accurate account of drug inventories and proper records of drugs.
- Keeps up sterile supplies and maintains treatment cart as all times and requisitions supplies as needed.
- Supervises basic care as it relates to their specific tasks and keeps the supervisor informed of resident status and requests assistance from them as needed.
- Reviews care plan frequently with nursing team members and ensures that the staff utilizes these plans.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and must hold a current RN license in good standing with the state of New Mexico Board of Nursing.
- Must be flexible, adaptable and responsible in order to provide the best possible care to the residents of South Valley Care Center.
- Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
All applicants must have a basic knowledge of speaking, reading, and writing the English language for safety reasons.
