Winchester Public Schools is seeking a 0.5 FTE Literacy Coach:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Facilitates improvement in instruction and student learning

Collaborates with educators based on observation of instruction, examination of student work, and review of assessment data and helps make connections to research-based effective practices

Provides training on differentiated instruction and assessment strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners

Coaches educators to develop new skills and strategies to improve effectiveness and student achievement
-
Coordinates the development, implementation and on-going assessment and revision of curriculum in consultation with the building and district administrators
-
Collaborates with educators in the design, implementation, scoring, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data to improve educational practice and student learning
-
Creates a climate of trust and critical reflection in order to appropriately engage educators in challenging conversations about student learning
-
Collaborates with educators to plan professional learning that is team-based, job-embedded, sustained over time, aligned with content standards, and linked to student learning
-
Identifies and uses appropriate technologies to promote collaborative and differentiated professional learning and planning
-
Keeps current on best practices in education and uses information and research about emerging education, economic, and social trends in planning and facilitating professional learning

Implements targeted and specific educator professional development opportunities to improve educator effectiveness and increase student learning and achievement

Supports the implementation of research-based social/-emotional learning, such as RULER or like program(s)

Other duties as assigned by the building principal or Literacy Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Master's degree in teaching/content area
-
Prior teaching experience required
-
Strong content knowledge in literacy
-
Certified as a reading specialist preferred

Proficient in the use of technology for teaching, learning, assessment, and data analysis
-
Skilled in recognizing teachers’ strengths, abilities, and challenges, and able to support effective intervention strategies
-
Highly developed knowledge of instructional methods and coaching techniques, including curriculum design principles, group and individual teaching strategies, pedagogical best practices, and assessment principles
-
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
