The Sushi Chef Assistant must always represent the Executive Chef’s core values of Quality, sanitation and fair treatment of all associates. The Sushi Chef Assistant is responsible for maintaining the clean, organized and efficient workplace that has been implemented by the Executive Chef and Chef De Cuisine. The Herons cook will report directly to the Sushi Chef and/or the Chef De Cuisine.
Job Requirements:
Maintain professional relations with associates, treating them with respect and holding others accountable, in line with the Kitchen and Hotel standards. Operate a functional and clean station. Ability to accurately follow recipes and retain basic cooking skills after instruction.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs over the course of a shift
Able to stand/ walk for an extended period over the course of a shift
SECURITY, HEALTH AND SAFETY:
The Sushi Chef is required to uphold all safety and security measures for both the guest and associates.
Protect the assets of the hotel at all times.
Additional Information for Success:
Important to be well versed in all aspects of the Herons Kitchen: Breakfast, lunch, Dinner, butchering, Receiving of products, and overall sanitation.
Important to work shifts when hotel activity is highest.
Important to understand clearly how the customer perceives the hotel’s food and service.
Important to understand the ability to be part of a strong team of culinary professionals.

Education:
High school or equivalent education required
Experience:
Must have at least 2 years in a sushi restaurant, and/or upscale hotel.
Licenses or Certificates:
Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
