We are looking for a stellar Registered Nurse to care for our patients and facilitate their speedy recovery within our growing Plastic Surgery practice. You will be responsible for educating them and their families on what to expect prior to, during and after procedures. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate, personable, and cool-tempered. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote patient’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the physician with patient care including taking vital signs, obtaining medical history; assisting with biopsies and select in office surgery procedures.
- Patient education on treatment plans and medication, nursing procedures, such as suture removal and dressing changes, and completion of pathology and lab requisition documents.
- Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice
- Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians
- Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, blood draw, administering injections etc.) and complete patients’ charts
- Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders
- Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing exam room etc.)
- Provide instant medical care in emergencies
- Assist surgeons during in-office procedures
- Supervise and train medical assistants
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
- Expand knowledge and capabilities by attending educational workshops, conferences etc.
Skills
- Proven experience as a registered nurse - 3 years minimum
- Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of emergency care
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Patient with excellent problem-solving skills
- BSc or other diploma from a nursing program
- Valid nursing license
Primary Duties
Maintains nurses schedule to ensure coverage for the practice.
Escorts patients to exam rooms in order of appointment times. Obtains short history and vital signs. Obtains or updates medication list if necessary.
Sets up exam room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate physicians needs if non-scheduled procedure is likely.
Prepares patient’s skin for in-office procedures where appropriate.
Stock procedure rooms with injectable products as needed.
Assists or circulates for physician with in office surgical or laser procedures.
Educates patient as required after physician establishes the treatment plan. Ensures that the patient understands the treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior to leaving the office.
Educates patient’s care giver post treatment to ensure understanding of treatment plan, medications, post operative visits and compliance with the treatment plan.
Coordinates pre-operative clearances with outside physicians as needed and obtain test results for evaluation
Review charts for necessary paper work for patient appointments
Prepares all paperwork for and performs pre-operative H&P appointment
Call all patients pre and post-operatively. Coordinate post operative appointments.
Examine all post-operative patients and assess their progress.
Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits.
Performs nursing procedures such as suture removal, pulling drains, dressing changes, post laser care and wound assessment without direct physician supervision.
Act as liaison between patient and surgeon for medical problems or concerns
Take patient calls throughout the day
2. Secondary Duties
- Stocks all exam rooms.
- Performs all duties related to medical instrument cleaning and sterilization.
- Places orders or notifies appropriate staff of supplies needed to avoid shortages.
- Mix/prepare all medications to be used during patient treatments.
- Attends all staff meetings
- Attends patient seminars and practice functions as needed
- Performs other duties and tasks as needed.
