The Behavioral Center of Michigan, an accredited psychiatric hospital providing high levels of psychiatric care to adult patients and committed to person focused care is looking for a Social Worker Manager to be responsible for ensuring the medically related emotional and social needs of the patients are met and maintained on an individual basis in accordance with policies and procedures, and current TJC, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
Qualified candidates must have a Masters in Social Work from an accredited program and current LMSW license as a Social Worker with State of Michigan. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a clinical setting or as a licensed counselor, demonstrated competency in abnormal psychology, developmental disabilities, personality theory, community systems theory, practice, psychological testing, counseling theory and practice. Must be well versed in-diagnostic developmental assessments, health care delivery, proven ability with handling documentation in an organized and efficient manner and working well within an interdisciplinary team. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong interpersonal and problem solving skills with proven ability to build and motivate their team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ability to plan and administer a multi-site program; analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; maintain effective internal and external communications; make effective oral and written presentations; accomplish goals through subordinate managers; comprehend and interpret complex regulations; enlist cooperation of community organizations, other agencies, employees, and others; maintain an effective and professional working relationship with the medical staff; establish clear departmental goals and objectives, and follow through on their attainment; provide leadership to subordinates to enable them to make decisions and cope with challenges; plan organize, assign, delegate, and prioritize work.
· Performs social service admissions functions including the development of comprehensive social history and psychosocial assessments.
· Participates in the development of individualized patient care plans involving the patients and their families in care planning.
· Attends scheduled care conferences and identifies and interprets psychosocial needs of patients for inclusion in the care plan, addressing particular issues of the care schedule treatment and environment that express and reinforce individuality and identity.
· Completes mandatory documentation within timelines established by applicable regulations.
· Oversees the Center’s inpatient units to ensure appropriate staffing coverage and provide support to Social Workers on a daily basis.
· Provides linkage with appropriate community resources by maintaining knowledge of other systems, making referrals and identifying unmet needs.
· Plans discharges to ensure appropriateness and continuity of care.
· Emphasizes the importance of safety, patient rights and person–centered planning in all aspects of care.
· Coordinates Social Work activities and communicates effectively with other administrative staff.
· Develops a schedule of Social Work coverage for all units. Assigns a Social Worker to ensure back-up coverage at all times, including weekends and holidays.
· Interview applicants for Social Worker positions and recommends hiring.
· Provides Social Work department orientation to new department staff.
· Assists the Chief Nursing Officer in the annual evaluation of Social Work staff.
· May oversee the supervision of all student Social Work internships.
· Participates in staff development, infections control and quality improvement programs.
· Serves on Center committees as required by the CAO.
· Promotes harmonious relationships and positive attitude with other clinical departments and the Medical Staff.
