The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) within the University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Research Assistant. The Laboratory Research Assistant is responsible for performing research activities in a laboratory setting.
This position is now eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Half will be paid following 30 days of satisfactory service at UMB, and half will be paid upon successful completion of probation. Current UMB employees are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.
Essential Functions:
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance and research activities such as: general housekeeping, ELISA assays, preparing solutions, processing animal and clinical specimens, and monitoring of adequate functioning of equipment.
- May perform advanced laboratory research activities such as: cell culture, ELISpot assays, and functional assays. May participate in the design of research studies.
- Compile results and analyze research data using various relevant computer software applications.
- Assist with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
- May assist with ordering supplies and shipping of clinical specimens.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Education: Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or in a field of study related to the research of the laboratory.
