Our facility is seeking to hire a licensed respiratory therapist to add to our ever-expanding staff of competent healthcare professionals. Duties will include setting up and operating devices such as therapeutic gas administration apparatus and mechanical ventilators, providing emergency care, such as external cardiac massage, artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and maintaining charts that contain patient identification and therapy information.
Shifts
*12 hour shift from 6:30am to 7:00pm and/or from 6:30pm to 7am
*Number of Shifts per week would vary!
Requirements and skills
1. Proven work experience as a Respiratory Therapist or similar role
2. Respiratory care, emergency care, and intensive care experience
3. Strong knowledge of pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation
4. Experience with respiratory equipment
5. Current RT license in the state of California.
6. Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
1. Administers pharmacologic, diagnostic and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitation, or a diagnostic regimen prescribed by a physician.
2. Monitoring patient physiological responses to therapy such as arterial blood gases, vital signs or blood chemistry, and lung function changes, and consulting with physicians if there are adverse reactions.
3. Provide invasive mechanical ventilation via a tracheostomy tube. Monitors vital signs and tolerance of ventilator settings.
4. Setting up and operating devices including therapeutic gas administration apparatus, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
5. Providing emergency care, such as external cardiac massage, artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
6. In collaboration with the healthcare team, develops and implements an appropriate care plan based on patient assessment by utilizing standards of care to optimize patient outcomes.
7. Provide information to appropriate personnel during meetings and shift changes, to ensure consistency of care and stay informed on changes to an individual’s treatment, recovery and plan of care.
8. Inspecting, testing, cleaning, and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.
9. Maintaining charts that contain patient identification and therapy information.
10. Measuring arterial blood gases, reading prescriptions, lung capacity, and reviewing other information to assess patient condition.
11. Relaying blood analysis results to a physician.
12. Making emergency visits to resolve equipment problems when necessary.
13. Ordering equipment repairs when necessary.
14. Maintains personal and professional growth by attending in-services and keeping current with respiratory practices.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay: $41.00 - $43.00 per hour
