Production Supervisor
Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant, its personnel, and processes. This position also ensures that products are produced in a safe and efficient manner which meet or exceed quality standards set forth by the company.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversees all manufacturing operations for specific area(s) of responsibility
- Supervises all manufacturing employees within the area(s) of responsibility
- Provides work assignments to ensure optimal productivity and teamwork objectives are met
- Motivates others to maintain a neat, tidy work area and holds housekeeping as a high priority
- Monitors production schedule and works with production scheduler to ensure customer delivery dates are met
- Works with Plant Management to resolve customer complaints related to product quality, packaging issues, and on-time delivery
- Optimizes plant efficiency; continually improves production methods, labor, machinery, and equipment; optimizes plant throughput
- Facilitates employee training and development to ensure employees perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Assures company compliance with all established government regulations, corporate policies, and company procedures pertaining to plant safety and environmental regulations
- Oversees the execution of production processes and ensures that batch records are documented according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
- Executes all administrative responsibilities pertaining to the management of employee performance including but not limited to; annual performance appraisals, attendance / time-keeping, PTO, and disciplinary actions.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience:
College degree with 2+ years of leadership experience, or 5-10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in chemical blending or related industry is highly preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Personal integrity and ability to conduct themselves and their job responsibilities in an ethical and non-discriminatory manner
- Basic knowledge of the operation and utilization of boilers, compressed air, and chiller/process water
- Computer skills, including the use of: Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Determination and assertiveness to accomplish goals and objectives
- Good oral and written communication skills; can effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, customers, and corporate officials
- Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy and good time management skills
- Leadership and team building skills, able to direct and motivate others in a diversified organization to accomplish company objectives
- Problem solving and reasoning ability can mentally process and comprehend complex issues involving multiple variables
- Mechanical reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze and trouble shoot a variety of manufacturing related equipment
- Flexibility to work various schedules as needed to keep up with customer demands
