Shelter Advocate is responsible for providing overnight coverage at the emergency shelter, along with direct services to residents. The Shelter Advocate ensures that the emergency shelter is a safe, protective environment for clients and their children.
Estimated 32 hours per week, 64 hours per pay-peroid (bi-weekly)
Every Monday & Tuesday nights with every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights, and an additional floating shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide coverage for 24-hour hotline;
- Provide crisis intervention services;
- Provide care management services;
- Complete intake and exit interviews;
- Enter data into a client-data system;
- Maintains daily, weekly and monthly record-keeping;
- Perform other services as requested by the Executive Director or Shelter Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must acquire through employment minimum of 48-hours of domestic and sexual violence training;
- Good oral and written skills;
- Willing to work overnight and some weekends and holidays;
- Understanding of domestic and sexual violence issues;
- Non-judgemental demeanor towards victims of domestic and sexual violence and their children, particularly as it relates to various ethnic, religious, racial or socioeconomic factors.
