Relevant work experience:
Have bachelor’s degree or higher
Minimum of (5) years’ experience as a molecular technologist
Minimum of (2) years of lead or supervisory experience
Molecular Assay Development, preferred
Position: -General description
The molecular supervisor will be responsible for daily technical and operational oversight of the molecular laboratory as well as for performing testing of clinical specimens, which includes RNA and DNA extraction from blood samples for qPCR and next generation sequencing analysis.
Responsibilities:
1 - Ensures laboratory is compliant with company, state, and federal regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, etc.) related to personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing as well as professional conduct in assigned areas
2 - Oversee the daily operational activities of the Molecular laboratory, both the technical and non-technical operations
3 - Operates and maintains all molecular area laboratory equipment in proper state of readiness and cleanliness.
4 - Assist with developing and implementing of laboratory procedures as well as installation of equipment and methods according to scheduled timelines
5 - Monitors inventory of supplies and equipment per established procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.
6 - Ensures effective communication with laboratory leadership, clients, sales, operations, as well as direct reports and all intra- and inter-departmental staff
7 - Design and development new molecular assays, as well as perform and create standard operating procedures (SOPs)
8 - Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
9 - Manage quality standards within the department, including but not limited to performing and submitting for all proficiency testing assay according to CAP and CLIA guidelines.
Requirements:
1 - Physical Demands:
Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions.
2 - Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
3 - Strong technical understanding of PCR and qPCR processes.
4 - Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner; may be required to work Holidays and weekends.
5 - Ability to communicate, both written and verbal, and work with others to plan and strategize scientific programs
7 - Observe high degree of reliability and professionalism
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
