POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Program Manager to join our team of professionals.
Duties include:
- Oversees medical student organizational events and activities; including, but not limited to space, scheduling, marketing, event recruitment, and funding approval. Maintains accurate records of events, student participation and monitors the status of student projects and activities.
- Manages all operations for OSA international travel programs. Develops and maintains updated international opportunities catalogue for medical students, including both HWCOM international and alternate electives. Tracks and reports medical student engagement in international programs, including mission trips, programming, and other related opportunities.
- Leads in the development, organization, and publication of Eloquor (a published literary journal composed by students on an annual basis). Oversees the launch annual gathering event, time management of submission deadlines, review and edit of all submissions, and serves as the lead contact between HWCOM and printing company.
- Oversees and maintains accurate standards and requirements for student leadership and international programming as needed for accreditation matters. Provides outcomes and data reports as requested.
- Trains, directs, supervises, and evaluates the work of student leaders and is accountable for the work of all programs, related to student organizations and international experiences.
- Monitors expenditures for medical student council budget. Advises management on budgetary needs and keeps accurate records of monetary donations.
- Manages the development and implementation of workshops and training programs for medical student executive board and faculty advisors. Evaluates trainings, workshops, and international programs. Analyzes data for quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversees the operations for the HWCOM for the Gold Humanism Honor Society., Manages the planning and execution for the annual Humanism in Medicine Solitary Week event. Oversees the nomination process for the Tow Humanism Medicine award, and submission, selection, and induction ceremony planning and collaboration for annual program to recognize student inductees and maintenance of database.
- Ensures compliance of all student-development programming and student-organization events and expenditures with all applicable FIU policies, procedures, practices and programs, rules, regulations, and with federal, state, and local legal/regulatory standards.
- Interprets program policies and procedures and recommends new and improved programs to effectively manage program administration for student organization and international programs. Communicates with medical student organizations on any updates related but not limited to, funding allocation, administration guidelines and policies.
- Maintains website content up to date for student organizations and international programs.
- Trains, directs, and supervises student programing staff. Provides guidance, onboarding, and training to further develop staff to build depth and capacity of student affairs programs.
- Maintains wide knowledge of university resources available to students, referring medical students to appropriate resources for help.
- Serves as a liaison between programs hosted by HWCOM and the university, including the office of Study Abroad and Activities and the Services Business Office. Maintains communication with FIU's Study Abroad office for updates and to consistently be informed of policies and guidelines.
- Oversees and manages the coordination of planning for signature student-led programs, annual events and planning orientation for leadership workshops and ongoing support for student leaders and conducting program evaluations, as needed for annual report.
- Serves as the main HWCOM OSA liaison between the AAMC- Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program and HWCOM medical students.
- Oversees the planning, facilitation and integration of community service programs and activities for student-led initiatives, Panther Learning Communities and other services provided by HWCOM office of Student affairs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.
