Home Fur Good Animal Rescue and Placement is a nonprofit, no kill shelter located in NE Phoenix. Our mission is to eliminate euthanasia of treatable, adoptable cats and dogs in Arizona through medical care, placements, promotion of spay/neuter and increased community awareness.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong managerial background and a passion for animals. The Shelter Director position is responsible for organizing, leading and executing a variety of tasks intended to keep our rescues, our people and our facility safe, healthy, efficient and welcoming. Tasks include but not limited to:

· Dental and Vaccine Clinic Administrative Support
Shelter Director is a key and visible position and as such requires the ability to communicate, coordinate and collaborate with staff, volunteers, Board of Directors and members of the public. Strong teambuilding and conflict resolution skills are required. This position reports directly to the board.
Schedule may vary based on shelter needs and will be agreed upon in collaboration with and approval of the Board. It is a full time position, with pay commensurate with experience.
Shelter Director will:
· Work with staff, volunteers and the Board of Directors to develop policies and procedures, set goals and objectives and create risk management plans.
· Engage in budget and financial analysis and make recommendations necessary to remain within budget and increase efficiencies.
· Work with staff, volunteers and the Board of Directors to develop and maintain policies and practices that ensure appropriate humane treatment and appropriate medical care for shelter animals.
· Work with staff, volunteers and Board of Directors to improve system for shelter intakes and to improve adoption, foster, enrichment and other programs.
· Create and maintain files for each rescue with all pertinent information including vet visits, medical notes, behavior notes and schedule of vaccinations. Enter and update each rescue in Pet Point data system and ensure timeliness of adoption packets.
· Prepare a monthly report with shelter updates for the Board of Directors. Attend monthly Board meeting and regularly conduct team staff meetings to drive engagement, provide clarity and develop the staff.
· Ensure policies and procedures are followed and updated as needed and work with the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers to address employee and or/volunteer concerns.
· Submit biweekly payroll. Conduct performance reviews and set goals and objectives on annual basis for shelter team leaders and kennel staff.
· Coordinate and communicate with external partners and fellow rescue organizations for shared best practices.
Candidates must be highly motivated with proven leadership and teambuilding skills, the ability to multi-task, strong organizational and decision making experience. This is a stressful environment and requires someone who can maintain calm and clear thinking. Home Fur Good is a no kill shelter, but animals sometimes come to us with injuries or illness that may require very difficult decisions. This position requires someone who is able to build relationships, resolve conflicts, motivate others and facilitate an overall positive and affirming culture.
