JOB TITLE: Youth Advocate/Mentor Coach Team Lead
SCHEDULE: 40 Hours/week (M-F, 8am-5pm; some events in the evenings or on weekends)
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide professional support, direction, and supervision to volunteer youth Mentors and the youth and families they serve
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coach up to 35 - 40 female Mentor-Protege matches.
· Serve as a lead advocate for youth and families.
· Lead the process for identifying, interviewing, and recruiting new Mentors.
· Support Mentor Advocate Training (MAT) and other speaking engagements.
· Provide regular supervision, support, encouragement, observation, and evaluation for Mentor Coaches under Team Leader’s direct supervision.
· Establish yearly mentoring budget alongside Mentor Team leadership.
· Support grant writer when submitting proposals for mentoring funds.
· Contribute to all media platforms (e.g., newsletter, social media, etc.).
· Provide direction in reaching specific agreed upon Mentor Team goals.
· Oversee collection and management of mentoring data.
· Embrace shared leadership role at weekly Mentor Huddle.
· Coordinate match making process and delegate new matches as needed.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES:
· Pray for youth and staff members.
· Provide spiritual encouragement to mentors, parents and protégés as appropriate.
· Adhere to and promote Gospel-centered values which are congruent with Youth Horizons values (remaining biblical, relational, and invitational—avoiding proselytizing).
· Collaborate with the Mentor Team members to nurture church partnerships.
· Actively participate in local church community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands are limited. The employee might be needed to help set up tables, chairs and other equipment for events. During mentoring events, the opportunity for physical exertion usually exists.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A high school education, some level of higher education or professional training with youth preferred.
· Requires a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
· Preferred experience in a youth mentoring relationship.
