The Barren River District Health Department serves the residents and visitors of Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren counties of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Barren River District Health Department has an opening for a full-time Public Health Nurse I, Grade 17 to work at the Warren County Health Department.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical nursing for all clinical programs in Warren County. The nurse in this classification would receive job specific training in the requirements and scope of practice of the various assigned health department programs and services. Practices may include WIC, STD/HIV testing, immunizations, vaccinations, etc.
- Travel will be required to other counties as needed after training is complete.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- The minimum requirement is an Associate degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited college, university, or school of nursing.
- Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state or provisional license in Kentucky, meeting all requirements of KRS 314.041 and approval to practice as Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA).
- Applicant must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

The minimum hourly wage is $22.38. After a successful 6-month probationary period, the employee would receive a 5% increase. Annually, employees receive a board-approved raise.
