Summary
Salary: Starting at $115,000 annually with 35% Sales Incentive Plan (SIP)
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is in charge of generating new business for specific accounts or targets, as well as expanding product and services to new segments or geographic regions. The BDM will create and oversee the company’s sales process, including account plans and pipelines, to introduce and promote the Company’s offerings to both new and existing customers. The BDM’s main responsibility is to drive and achieve profitable and accretive portfolio growth for the company. It’s important to note that this role is not a managerial position.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Establish, nurture, and enhance new business connections for the company.
- Leverage existing relationships to grow gross margins through the capture of new business and share of wallet opportunities.
- Develop and maintain account plans and pipelines for business prospects.
- Create value for customers by identifying their needs and clearly expressing the company’s distinctive value proposition.
- Prepare, present, and convert proposals for new and existing customers.
- Mentor and coach Field Sales Representatives (FSRs) to help their growth into BDM roles, as needed.
- Observe and study market dynamics and provide market intelligence or feedback upon request.
- Focus on potential customers where our company’s strength in our distribution network can set us apart from our competitors and provide value and profitable growth.
- Provides training and motivation to make use of individual capabilities.
Other Functions:
- Special projects as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Position reports to hiring manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of demonstrated success and progressive experience in a solution-based selling environment within a relevant industry.
- Experience selling to various management levels within an organization with a proven track record of closing mutually beneficial deals.
- Valid and current driver’s license.
- Have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Strong listening and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to deliver on goals and objectives and to implement critical planning activities.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Finance, or a combination of education and/or experience in lieu of degree preferred.
