ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
AWC Centers (AWC) is a Christ-centered nonprofit that provides free pregnancy services, sexual health services and counseling to those in need. We equip women facing unplanned pregnancies by offering free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and pregnancy options counseling. STI Testing and treatment are provided to women and men. Mental health counseling is offered to women, men, and couples. AWC’s services empower women and men through medical education and spiritual support by volunteer client advocates, licensed medical professionals, and mental health professionals.
JOB SUMMARY:
AWC’s Director of Nursing is responsible for overseeing both the clinical and administrative aspects of the Main Center, Downtown Center, and the Mobile Unit medical programs including client care, records, medical training, equipment and supplies, and code compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.
- Clinical and administrative nursing experience.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Experience in medical records management and code compliance.
- Agreement with and willingness to uphold AWC policies and procedures.

- Strong Christian faith demonstrated through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with team members.
- Ability to complete new hire training and willingness to pursue ongoing training as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer® (RDMS) or experience in sonography.
- Experience in a pregnancy resource center or OB/GYN setting.
- Experience with scheduling and medical records management.
- Experience with supervising staff and volunteers in the nonprofit sector.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Services:
- Directly supervise Downtown Staff Nurse and volunteer medical staff.
- Conduct sonogram and other medical testing appointments for the center.
- Oversee lab specimen collection and prepare lab specimens for transport.
- Administer appropriate treatment under medical standing orders and program protocols.
- Ensure adequate scheduling of medical volunteers to provide exceptional client care.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies; reorder for centers as needed with approval.
- Maintain inventory of medications for STI treatment; reorder for centers as needed.
- Contact clients when volunteers are unavailable or when there is a medical necessity.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate all medical personnel on clinical and administrative duties.
- Oversee medical services in Centers to maintain the highest standard of client advocacy and care.
Administration:
- Answer the phones and schedule client appointments.
- Perform chart checks, close cases, and audit medical records.
- Provide monthly Board report.
- Complete STI processing, morbidity reports, and medical results contacts.
- Ensure physician standing orders for medical services are implemented accurately.
- Oversee client health education, medical questions, and referrals for follow-up care.
- Oversee medical volunteers.
- Leads quarterly/as needed nurse meetings/trainings.
- Review and update client intake and informed-consent forms on an ongoing basis.
- Review and approve all medical educational materials with the Medical Director.
- Update the medical policies, procedures, and medical standing orders as needed with the Medical Director.
- Assist Executive Director with annual medical program budget.
- Conduct medical volunteer annual reviews.
- Communicate with vendors and order agency medical supplies and equipment.
Compliance:
- Apply for CLIA waivers biennially and maintain established CLIA requirements.
- Remain current on healthcare law and medical best practices to implement at the center.
- Ensure the privacy of protected health information per federal and state law.
- Maintain OSHA compliance and enforce workplace safety policies.
- Ensure medical staff and volunteers maintain CPR certification.
- Check SDS forms against chemicals in the center and maintain an SDS logbook.
- Enforce bloodborne pathogen/infection control procedures.
- Ensure medical equipment is properly operated, maintained, and disinfected.
Continuing Education:
- Comply with all state and professional continuing education requirements.
- Maintain CPR certification biennially or per licensure requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
- Lead group prayer meetings.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend Board of Directors meetings as needed.
- Participate in fundraising events, volunteer recruitment activities, and agency outreach.
- Serve as the clinic’s medical expert and presenter to external community agencies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to frequently use a computer and telephone.
- Ability to physically navigate both in and out of the office.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, and stoop for an extended time.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting such as moving equipment and assisting clients.
- Ability to drive and travel as required for the position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
