JOB DESCRIPTION: The Direct Support Professional will provide active services and supports as outlined in the Staff Action Plan, both at home and in the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Direct Care and Supervision
- Companionship and Mentorship
- Assistance and full support with Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Skills (IADLs)
- Facilitate opportunities for socialization in the community to enhance social skills
- Foster and promote community inclusion and integration
- Perform all other related tasks and duties
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- New York City Resident
- Bachelors Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Science, Humanities, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Child Development, Counseling or Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation, Nursing, or other related fields
- One year of experience working with children with Autism and/or I/DD population
