Clinical Research Assistant
A clinical research assistant has to assist in setting up, monitoring and completing clinical trials. Responsible for coordinating the work of the people who are working on the clinical research project.

A clinical research assistant has to assist the scientist, physician or investigator who is responsible for conducting the trial.
- Has to be involved in developing and implementing strategies in recruiting subjects for the trials in order to increase patient enrollment.
- Has to oversee the attendance of meetings between research nurses and the investigator.
- Has to maintain patient records including all the details of the patients being recruited for trials, the progress of each patient during the trial, any adverse events that may have occurred during trial and other relevant information.
- Make sure that payments are being made to the investigators, the trial site and subjects.
- Responsible for maintaining records of clinical trial shipments.
- Ensure that adequate supplies are available to meet project needs.
- Assists the investigator and project manager in writing the final reports of the trial.

Skills and Specifications

A clinical research assistant needs to possess excellent communication as well as very good interpersonal skills.
- Has to have strong organizational and administration skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision at times.

May have to work extended hours, especially when the completion of a trial is nearing.
Qualifications:
Education and Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field is required.
- Professional certification or eligibility for same by Clinical Research Organization (i.e. SOCRA) preferred.
- A desire to research is an added advantage in this profession.
