Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides outstanding customer service and delivers the highest quality patient care.
- Escorts patient to exam rooms.
- Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
- Accurately records the details of medications and patient history in chart / EMR.
- Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts.
- Assists physicians with patient exams as needed.
- Responsible for Holter /Event monitor hook-ups, removals, and report management.
- Maintains cleanliness and medical supply inventory in examination areas.
- Facilitate pharmacy requests, including prescription authorization and refill requests.
- Maintains pharmacy sample supplies and communicates with vendors as needed.
- Receives phone calls from patients and other external sources, responding with appropriate actions for resolution.
- Utilizes the computer for patient inquiries, scheduling, and communication across organization.
- Performs EKG and vital monitoring during in-office stress testing (i.e., Bruce treadmills, Nuclear stress tests, stress echocardiograms)
- Completes IV insertion procedures under supervision
- Maintains current CPR certification.
- Operates in compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and other safety guidelines at all times.
- Works as a team player, focusing on patient and teammate satisfaction at all times.
- Assists with insurance precertification, surgery, and diagnostic procedure scheduling, and coordinating transfers and admissions, as necessary.
- Travels to alternate clinic locations, based on physician schedules
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills, Experience, and Education
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability and willingness to travel to multiple clinic locations, based on physician scheduling
- Ability to obtain detailed information pertinent to patient's visit before and during time of service and record accurately into chart / EMR
- Current ACLS/BLS certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comprehension and understanding of OSHA and HIPAA requirements
- Patient-centered and team-focused approach to all tasks
PREFERRED:
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
- 2+ years medical assistant experience at a cardiology practice.
- Familiarity with cardiac conditions, modalities, and medications
Physical Requirements:
The position will include, but is not limited to, the following physical demands: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.'
