We are currently seeking a dedicated Recreational Therapist to join our team and play a crucial role in the care of our clients.
Position Overview:
The Recreational Therapist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, a creative approach to therapy, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. Alongside our interdisciplinary team, you will develop and implement personalized treatment plans to support the recovery and well-being of our young patients and their families. Key Responsibilities:
· Program Development: Design and implement individualized recreational therapy programs that address the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of clients.
· Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to determine the recreational needs and interests of clients, and evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
· Therapeutic Activities: Facilitate group and individual therapeutic activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, music, drama, outdoor activities, and community outings.
· Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to integrate recreational therapy into comprehensive treatment plans.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.
· Education and Support: Educate clients and their families about the benefits of recreational therapy and provide resources to support ongoing participation in therapeutic activities.
· Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, attend professional development opportunities, and incorporate best practices into recreational therapy programs.
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field from an accredited institution.
· Certification: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification required.
· Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in recreational therapy, preferably in a behavioral health or clinical setting.
· Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, adaptability, and the ability to motivate and engage clients.
· Knowledge: Understanding of various therapeutic modalities and interventions used in recreational therapy.
· Licensure: Must hold a valid state license or certification as required.
