Head Teacher:
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000 Depending on Experience
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education (B-2) Head Teacher for our brand new, dynamic pre-k early childhood special needs program in Brooklyn, New York This role is ideal for someone deeply committed to the development and education of young children with special needs. Please note that this is a 12-month position. The successful candidate will lead a 6:1:1 or 8:1:1 Pre-K classroom, implement the curriculum, and ensure a safe and stimulating environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a classroom team consisting of two assistant teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers,
- Ensure the educational and emotional needs of the students are met.
- Monitor and assess student progress on both the IEP and curricular content
- Adapt teaching strategies and techniques to meet the varying needs and interests of students
- Foster a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Write and submit differentiated lesson plans based on NYS standards to be shared with the school administration
- Engage with parents and caregivers to provide regular updates on student progress and to offer guidance on how to support learning at home
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in New York State for Early Childhood Special Education (B-2)
- Preferred 2 years of teaching experience, with at least 1 year as a lead teacher within an early childhood special education setting.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective special education curriculum and programs.
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
- A deep commitment to best educational practices and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children who have disabilities
