Position: Box TruckDriver

Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to utilize NWAFB equipment to pick up, deliver, and or transfer goods, supplies, and/or equipment as business needs require. As one of the most publicly seen personnel of the NWAFB, you will help generate goodwill from the community toward the NWAFB through a willing and capable presence, and exemplary customer service.
The person in this position will be cross-trained and able to assist in the following areas:
· Unloading trucks
· Picking and pulling product orders
· Loading agency orders
· Product receipt and storage
· Warehouse cleaning and maintenance
· Inventory
· Product delivery and pickup
· Forklift driving
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Inspect truck – check tires, check coolant, check oil, check power steering, and check washer fluid. Check fuel levels. Check lights. Record miles. Fill out inspection sheet.
· Check driving schedule to see where you are going. Check with Distribution Manager and confirm what you are taking and where you are going. Make sure you have correct addresses.
· For deliveries, load truck with last stop first and first stop last.
· Make sure you have a fully-charged electric jack.
· When making deliveries or pickups always display excellent customer service skills.
· When making deliveries make sure you have the invoices. If delivering from a retail pickup be sure to fill out the delivery ticket with agency name, date, name of product (for example, Prod for produce, Deli, BP for Bakery Product, Meat, Dairy, Eggs, Rescue). Record the weight of each pallet. Sign your initials at the bottom.
· When picking up from a retail store record the temperature of the truck box, record temperature of produce, meat, deli, and dairy. Load onto a pallet. If not on a pallet, wrap pallet, weigh and record it, and secure on truck.
· Upon returning to the warehouse clean out the cab and throw away all trash in the dumpster. If you have any product remaining on the truck make sure to tag each pallet with the appropriate tag (produce, bakery, meat, deli, rescue) with the weight and date, and put away. Sweep the box of truck every time you use it. Wash at least once a week and always wash if something spilled (milk, blood from meat, produce). Park truck in appropriate location. Never leave truck in dock. If temperature outside is freezing be sure to plug truck in. Lock the cab and the box. Return keys and inspection sheet to office. Return fuel card to Distribution Manager. Record weights on weight sheet and staple your delivery tickets to it and turn it in to Distribution Manager.
Skills, Education and Experience:
*Commitment to understanding and supporting the NWAFB mission including but not limited to showing compassion to the hungry.
*High School diploma or equivalent; or active pursuit of such.
* Dependable and reliable.
*Valid Driver’s License.
*Clean driving record.
*Ability to Operate, in a safe manner, a non-CDL refrigerated 25,999 pound GVW box truck.
* Must be able to pass DOT physical.
*Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 100lbs, repeatedly, for a complete shift.
*Ability to do basic math, organize, and document accurately what is being transported.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Excellent interpersonal skills.
*Good personal hygiene.
*Ability to use a smart phone, communicate electronically.
Job Specifications:
The physical demands of this positon include sitting, standing, walking, driving, lifting, pushing, pulling, stacking, and smartphone use.
