Summary:
The Director of Pharmacy directs the operational, financial and personnel activities of the Pharmacy department. This position is also accountable for ensuring highly efficient day-to-day administration of all Pharmacy-related programs, and for providing management, organizational and leadership support for employees engaged in delivering these services. The incumbent ensures that patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical services in the most economical and efficient manner and ensures that Children's Medical Center (CMC) is in a continuous state of readiness for compliance and regulatory inspections.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, monitor and revise annual goals, processes and objectives for the department that support the mission and objectives of Children's Health; manage daily operations and personnel in department; effectively coordinate with inpatient, surgery, ED and clinics at CMC. Integrate and communicate information and services within the department and with other departments; and maintain and implement knowledge of all the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, laws, etc., that impact or govern the department and ensure compliance. Access and coordinate resources from other CHST Pharmacy locations when appropriate. Implement new programs and ensure that department and hospital policies and procedures are followed.
- Select, train, orient, and assign staff; identify and analyze work processes, work flows, etc., for the department and implement appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department; and develop, manage and assess the Performance Improvement program for the department. Establish and maintain key processes. Analyze, recommend, and implement changes that improve efficiencies, quality and service. Stay abreast of operational and regulatory changes
- Oversee the purchasing, receiving, storing, compounding and dispensing of controlled substances to ensure compliance and accountability; ensure that appropriate records are maintained.
- Design and implement a staffing plan to ensure a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide department services; develop and monitor annual budgets (operating, capital, or any special type of budget) that ensure the necessary funds to carry out departmental goals and objectives.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and/or professional affiliations to remain abreast of latest developments and trends in Pharmacy services; ensure staff maintains current technology and knowledge through training and continuing education programs; and ensure that staff maintains required licensure or professional certification.

- At least 5 years related experience Req
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy is required; MBA or advanced Pharmacy degree preferred Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Current Texas licensure and registration as a Pharmacist Req; Or eligible for Texas based License
