Florence Hearing Health Care is a private audiology clinic committed to creating better living through better hearing to the people of western Massachusetts. We believe in educating our patients, their communication partners and other health professionals about the benefits of working with an audiologist for regular hearing testing, custom hearing protection and hearing loss treatment. We care deeply about our patients, but also about our team. At Florence Hearing, we place high value on work-life balance, team culture, and professional development. We have outlined our values in the Florence Hearing Promise, which is included on our website. To support our employees’ work-life balance, our full time positions are 32 hours per week with a paid 30 minute lunch, paid vacation and sick time, and 13 paid holidays annually. We also have a profit sharing program based on company-wide goals (think teamwork!), a health insurance or healthcare expense contribution, retirement plan with match, and disability insurance.
The Patient Care Coordinator is generally the first impression at the clinic, providing patient administration on the phone and in person. The Audiology Assistant portion of this job is a new role for Florence Hearing, and will allow our practice to further support our mission by handling hearing aid services in conjunction with the patient care role.
These attributes will help you be successful at our clinic:
- You enjoy autonomy, but know when to ask for help. The managers of this position work remotely most of the year, and you may sometimes have to say “I’ll get back to you” when you don’t have all of the information you need.
- You want to make sure everyone feels welcome and safe in our office (especially for those who might not have that experience everywhere).
- You can adjust your communication style based on your communication partner - in an audiology clinic that sometimes involves speaking slowly and clearly at a high volume.
- You are always on the lookout to learn and improve and will actively make suggestions if you see an opportunity.
- To apply, you must have more than two years of experience in a health care setting and the ability to complete the state of Massachusetts Audiology Assistant licensing requirements if you are not already licensed (see below).
Specific Patient Care Coordinator job responsibilities include:
- Answer phones
- Opening and/or closing procedures
- Patient scheduling, including referral management
- New patient intake forms and cloud-based document maintenance
- Greet patients at clinic (check in and check out, payment processing)
- Appointment preparations, including purchase agreements and reimbursement forms
- Hearing aid and hearing aid supply orders and stock management
- Device repair coordination and tracking
- Ear mold orders and tracking
- Ensure HIPAA compliance is maintained in all tasks and processes
- Patient experience follow-up (using our practice management software)
- Patient communications regarding follow-up appointments, expiring service plans, etc.
- Continual review and improvement of patient experience
The Audiology Assistant portion of the position requires licensing by the state of Massachusetts. The minimum requirement for the additional coursework is a completed associate's degree. If you are not already licensed, coursework and clinical training will need to be completed, which will be paid for by Florence Hearing and completed during working hours. Once licensed, the Audiology Assistant portion of the position will include hearing aid troubleshooting in clinic and over the phone, hearing aid clean and check appointments with patients, and other audiology assistant tasks as allowed by state law to support our audiologists and our practice mission.
This is an in-office position. The hourly pay range for this position is $23-25/hour to start. After completion of Audiology Assistant licensing, the pay range will be $25-27/hour. Scheduled hours are 8:45am-4:45pm or 9:00am-5:00pm, four days per week.
If you think this could be a good fit for you and for our clinic, please send us your resumé, plus a cover letter letting us know why we would be a good fit and how the Florence Hearing Promise resonates with you. We anticipate inviting initial candidates for phone screenings during the first half of July and final candidates for in-person interviews in the second half of July. Applications without a cover letter or those not meeting our minimum requirements will not be reviewed. No phone calls or visits to our office, please.
