E-Commerce Online/Digital Merchant
The E-Commerce Digital Merchant reports to the Director of E-Commerce and forms an integral part of the e-commerce business. The Digital Merchant oversees merchandising, setup and management of products, and ensures that the various retailers and marketplace sites are always up‐to‐date and accurate. The Digital Merchandiser requires a high competency in e-commerce, content management, and project management, with a demonstrated proficiency of problem resolution and consumer focused on the optimal site experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares and publishes products and their digital assets to the website in collaboration with the Merchant Team to adhere to product guidelines and hit launch deadlines.
- Manages the sourcing and maintenance of accurate, approved, and up-to-date product content, including product specifications, images, videos, copy, pricing, and rich marketing content.
- Proofs and audits content to ensure the consistency, integrity, and quality is maintained in all assets.
- Handles the creation and maintenance of product pages, category pages, and cross-selling product recommendations.
- Identify areas of improvement for listings - content, images, error corrections, keyword enhancements, attribute mapping and cross sells - and work with Content team and other cross functional teams to make corrections /enhancements.
- Knows when and how to escalate issues as appropriate, based on an understanding of the e-commerce platform, supporting systems, and underlying architecture.
- Communicates effectively with the E-Commerce Team, other business teams, and IT partners to prioritize, mitigate, resolve, and report on production issues and causes.
- Implements new navigation, landing pages, categorizations, and site search optimizations as new assortments and product categories are introduced.
- Supports upgrades, transitions, and maintenance efforts to ensure the migration of content and data necessary to website integrity.
- Engages in continual monitoring of the website for issues such as bugs, broken images, load speed, outdated information (products and price errors, etc...), and functioning of offer codes to maintain the E-Commerce Team’s service level commitments.
- As the team lead, provide guidance and assistance to Site Merchandising Specialists as they are hired in order to achieve overall channel goals and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Merchandising to drive the events calendar. Develop a communications strategy that will be executed on the website that accounts for seasonal events, holidays and key promotions.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge Required
- eCommerce category management or merchandising / marketing are essential
- Expert knowledge of Excel; specifically PIVOTS, VLOOKUPs, etc.
- Solid familiarity with ecommerce related 3rd party vendors.
- Ability to think creatively and propose new ideas and solutions
- Strong analytical abilities and capability of synthesizing and prioritizing a large volume of data.
- Ability to use sound reasoning and expertise to manage deliverables, create solutions, and achieve task and goal objectives.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of ecommerce experience.
- Working knowledge of apparel industry or consumer related sites preferred.
