The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has an opening for a Field Service Representative Support position in Lansing, MI, as part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local Union 352.
Position Summary:
- Responsible for various clerical and accounting functions and field service dispatching related to Electric Metering operations
Essential Functions:
- Enters, updates, assigns and dispatches work in accordance with daily work orders.
- Enters data to the Customer Information System (CIS) for work orders as needed
- Reconciles work throughout the day from the CIS to confirm work performed in the field and assess future work requirements
- Communicates by two-way radio and telephone with BWL personnel
- Communicates orally and in writing.
- Communicates directly with external customers
- Downloads information to and from handheld devices
- Receives and enter trouble calls into Outage Management System
- Utilizes CIS and Microsoft Office Applications (such as Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook)
- Submits order requisitions in SAP for department materials as needed
- Works with Print Shop to order and stock forms, door hangers and any other departmental needs
- Reconciles purchasing cards
- Performs other related duties as required or necessitated by job responsibilities
- Required to follow BWL Safety Manual
- Attends training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA
Job Specifications:
- High-school Diploma or equivalent
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills as demonstrated by standardized tests including: typing (35wpm) and MS Word and Excel at intermediate levels
- Successful completion of designated Work Keys modules (Applied Math, Locating Information, and Reading for Information
Other Requirements:
- UMAX experience strongly preferred
- One-year bookkeeping experience strongly preferred
- Previous customer contact and teamwork experience preferred
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Retrieve data from hand-written, typed and computerized sources
Must have good written and oral communication skills
Must be able to perform office functions such as filing, retrieving and copying documents, etc.
Must be able to operate a computer, business phone system and typewriter
Ability to communicate orally via phone, radio and in written form
Must be able to operate printer, fax machine, and automated payment system
