Additional Details: We are mandated by the state to have someone on the property and available to the residents 24/7.
Live-In Position Available: We do have an onsite position available that comes with free rent at the facility in an individual (mostly private) room in the residence, where all utilities including high speed internet is included. You will also be able to partake in the food that you prepare and that is available to the residents on the days you work. You'll also have storage for your own food in a separate fridge and area within your room.
Part-time: This position is scheduled for 3-4 days per week, some holidays, and as needed.
The 3-4 day shift period we are needing someone to cover begins on Saturday at 10 am and ends on Wednesday at 10 am. If you are interested but that schedule doesn't work, please still apply and let us know, and we can always work with you on this.
Our facility is in Grants Pass, OR.
A typical day/night at our facility consists of the following "working hours/time":
Waking the residents up for their medications at 8 AM and filling out the Medication Administration Record Sheet (MARS) accurately. It sometimes takes the residents about 20 minutes to fully wake up, so you may have to try waking them up a few times. You'll do some cleaning throughout the morning and check in with the residents and/or their case workers, if the need arises. Then you'll have down-time until medications at 2:00 PM. Then once again doing some cleaning, organizing, more down-time, while being available to the residents. Then around 4:30 PM you'll start preparing dinner and then serve dinner around 5:00 PM. Then at 8:00 PM you'll administer the night meds and fill out the MARS again.
Throughout the day and especially at night, the residents typically do their own thing: they go to their groups & appointments and have their case-managers and support team stop by so you end up having a lot of down-time. Your main responsibility during any down-time, is to just be available to the residents if they need someone to talk to or need assistance with something. Other than that, you can use the down-time to do your own thing in your room, such as: read, watch TV, play games, work on your online business, etc. This makes this job great for someone that is more of a "homebody," or is doing online school, or has their own online business that they can do. As long as you are on the property and available at any moment to help and assist the residents and have completed all other required tasks, you are not asked to do much else and have lots of time to yourself.
This position requires someone who is kind, compassionate, and enjoys taking care of others. Someone who is able to de-escalate a situation, not make things worse. The following are the types of mental illness that you may deal with day to day at this type of Adult Foster Home: Anxiety & Depression, Schizophrenia, Psychotic disorders, Personality disorders, Mood disorders, and Autism. These include some of the following symptoms: hallucinations, delusions, hearing voices, seeing things, and disorganized thinking and speech. The type of residents we handle our very high functioning and can take care of most things for themselves.
This opportunity and compensation package is best suited for someone who may be going to school online, has a work from home opportunity (where they are able to stop and start as needed to care for the residents), and/or someone who enjoys just spending a lot of time at home.
If interested in applying, please submit a resume and a cover letter indicating your interest in the position.
