Primary Objective of Position
Provides effective support for all phases in the manufacturing of new products consistent with established performance standards and specifications, in a manner that will ensure successful results within time and cost guidelines.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Designs and develops (tunes) extrusion dies and downstream cooling tooling. This includes setting up and operating extrusion equipment.
- Establishes and maintains proper documentation for assigned projects including set up specifications and related machine/production operating procedures.
- Develops the processes for manufacturing new products and supports the evaluation of processability for new/alternative materials.
- Provide tooling and processing insights to Sales & Estimating for the accurate preparation of customer quotations.
- Supports the commercialization of new products in the early-stage production (as part of the stage/phase gate business process – Phase 5).
- Supports scrap reduction efforts as appropriate.
- Supports the validation of rebuilds for worn tooling from current products and documentation of all of the aforementioned responsibilities (particularly within our ERP system).
- Provide training and guidance to departmental team members as part of a collaborative Departmental learning environment.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in an Engineering or Technical Discipline (or equivalent years of extrusion experience)
- Coursework in Plastics Technology preferred.
- 1 - 3 years profile extrusion tooling development experience required.
- Light experience in machine operation, process equipment, lathes, grinders, etc. desired.
- Polymer Science knowledge is a plus.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization skills to coordinate workflow with other projects.
- Proven ability to setup and operate applicable extrusion equipment and other machine process tools and equipment desired.
Responsibility for Work of Others
This position requires no direct supervision of others.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift (weekly) up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, twist and carry tools or materials over the course of 8 – 10-hour shift.
- Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
