Lyon Counseling Center is a dynamic, growing practice offering counseling and other psychological services. We are actively seeking to add fully licensed and limited licensed clinicians to our team. We have locations in South Lyon, Brighton, Ann Arbor and Huntington Woods Michigan.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or other related human services field required.
- Current valid professional license/certification in the State of Michigan.
- Full and/or Limited Licensed Clinicians welcome to apply.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Comprehensive assessment skills.
- Direct clinical experience performing group and/or individual psychotherapy with clients along with the empathy and compassion necessary to facilitate positive growth
- Demonstrated knowledge of the psychological and physical effects placement has on children and their families (separation anxiety, fantasy families, low self-esteem, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of child, adolescent and/or adult conscious and unconscious psychodynamics, developmental stages and signs of conflict or distress.
- Ability, desire, and motivation to work cooperatively and responsibly with the program leadership team, as well as colleagues, all staff and collateral contacts.
- Ability to effectively, appropriately, and accurately communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability and willingness to abide by all Lyon Counseling Center confidentially policies.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and sensitivity, and to respect the privacy and special needs of our clients.
- Development and implementation of Individualized Plan of Service utilizing Person Centered Planning.
- Knowledge of theory and practice of individual, group and family systems treatment.
- Competence in the delivery of crisis intervention services, and in brief and time-limited therapy.
- Competency, or willingness to learn, a wide range of treatment modalities that are individualized and person centered.
- Competency, or willingness to learn, co-occurring treatment of mental health, substance abuse and/or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to develop treatment plans and coordinate needed services to fulfill plans.
- Ability to make critical decisions independent of immediate supervision.
- Knowledge of community resources and linkages.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to work with all members of the community regardless of race, gender, age and cultural or ethnic background.
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards.
- Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner.
- Ability and desire for personal and professional growth and skill development.
- An understanding of the current confidentiality laws and a commitment to abide by them.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide individual, group and family treatment to assigned clients.
- Maintain clinical charts in an accurate and timely manner to include, but not limited to assessments, treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family treatment for children with mental health and co-occurring disorders (developmental disabilities and/or substance abuse).
- Actively coordinate all therapy with appropriate agency personnel.
- Update appropriate agency personnel regarding progress of therapy.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with educational, legal, health, social welfare, and mental health systems.
- Must maintain professional and ethical standards at all times.
- Adhere to all Lyon Counseling Center policies and procedures as it relates to documentation, training requirements, and confidentiality.
