We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technician to join our team.
Position Overview: The Surgical Technician at HAAS Specialty Surgery Center plays a crucial role in assisting surgeons and other medical professionals during orthopaedic surgeries. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery by ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons and surgical team before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other medical professionals as needed during surgeries.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to requests for additional supplies or assistance.
- Assist with patient positioning and draping during surgeries.
- Handle specimens carefully and accurately, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Appropriately prepares all specimens for laboratory analysis
- Clean and restock operating rooms after each surgical procedure.Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with other members of the surgical team to ensure efficient and successful surgical outcomes.
- Collects, contains and counts sponges and needles with another OR staff member.
- Ensure routine maintenance of the autoclave and other sterilization equipment and inform supervisor of any malfunction or possible need for repair
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current with best practices and advancements in surgical technology.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a surgical technology program required.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
- Minimum 1 year previous experience working as a Surgical Technician in a surgical setting, preferably in orthopaedic or spine surgery.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
- Willingness to adhere to all infection control protocols and safety regulations.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand, reach or assist to transfer up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and/or walk 80-90% of an 8 hour day.
- Visual and hearing acuity to perform job related functions.
