Job Description:
The paraprofessional provides students with one-on-one and small-group support in various subjects, as directed by the teacher. They assist with instructional materials and vocational training and help maintain a positive and organized classroom environment. Collaboration with special education teachers is crucial to implement accommodations for students with disabilities. They support technology integration, administer assessments, and ensure accurate record-keeping. Key responsibilities include effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring student safety, and engaging in professional development activities. They also foster a positive and inclusive school culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ohio Educational Aide Permit (or ability to obtain)
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred).
- Previous experience working in an educational setting, particularly with high school students, is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, teachers, and other staff members.
- Knowledge of Ohio Career Technical High School curriculum and vocational training programs is preferable.
- Familiarity with technology and its integration into the classroom environment.
- Ability to adapt and respond to the diverse learning needs of students.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
- Meet all health requirements mandated by law (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
- A response from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and/or the Federal Bureau of Investigation was deemed acceptable by the Board.
