ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Senior Designer to prepare for all meetings with agendas and notes; set up of drawings and necessary materials; liaise with clients, architects and contractors. Collaborate with Senior Designer in design schemes, design development and presentations. Coordinate project installations.
- Prepare story boards as needed, and prepare for client presentations as directed.
- Responsible for follow-up meeting needs including: returning all materials, samples and catalogues to sample library; generating and distributing meeting notes; identifying action items; and creating and/or organize existing client binders and/or bins with newest selections.
- Liaise with architectural draftsman on furniture plans and floorplans on revisions and updates throughout the course of each project.
- Responsible for preparing schedules and specification books as needed for the various subcontractors on each project, i.e. plans, necessary meeting notes and details, hardware and plumbing schedules, electrical selections, etc.
- Responsible for measuring, photographing and cataloging existing furniture and art, noting conditions, etc., as needed.
- Distribution of all relevant correspondence emanating from project(s); preparation of written schedules, quotations, budgets, specifications, proposals and material reference books in conjunction with office manager (as appropriate on budgets and invoicing, etc.).
- General research and shopping for projects including showroom visits and internet and social media research.
- Prepare purchase orders and proposals based on vendor quotes and estimates in Studio Designer (webware). Process purchase orders as needed. Review Work in Progress (WIP) reports regularly in coordination with staff members.
- Track items and take responsibility for furniture, lighting, tile, etc., being delivered on time and in conjunction each client’s budget and deadlines as determined at the onset of each project.
- Organize and take responsibility for updating client binders and bins throughout the course of each project, including labeling and updating fellow staff members as necessary.
- Work with design team to prepare for meetings, installation and timely completion of tasks; handle client meeting as appropriate.
- Coordinate and schedule vendors for measurements as well as movers for installations of: curtains, upholstery, carpets, wallpaper, tile, etc.
- Visit jobsites as requested and report back to Senior Designer throughout the course of each project.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Degree in Interior Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired
- 4+ years’ experience working in a high-end residential interior design firm that includes project management, design and budgeting experience
- Excellent customer service, communications and management skills
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Ability to demonstrate loyalty and long-term goals within a company
- Studio Webware or Design Manager experience required
- AutoCAD experience required
- 3-D drawing program proficiency (ie: Sketch-up, Adobe, etc).
