The BCArc Academy staff is designed for recent (2024) high school graduates who choose to enter the workforce before college. BCArc Academy members will participate as full time Direct Care Professionals to assist individuals with disabilities in all areas of daily living. This position works closely with individuals to help them grow toward independence and to meet their personal goals.
BCArc Academy members will rotate through several BCArc departments to experience the variety of roles in the field of human services for people with disabilities – this includes Family Advocacy, Day Habilitation Services, Community-Based Day Services, Employment Services, and Residential Services.
Working at BCArc brings numerous rewards. Staff stay for years in the same home, move to other community-based programs, or take advantage of advancing through BCArc’s management roles.
The BCArc Academy member will work with other staff and family members to support the Individuals with disabilities.
Academy Members earn a $3,000 stipend at the end of the year-long program — above regular pay — and $2,000 after six months at a full-time position with BCArc.
Members also have access to free tuition for all Mass. public colleges: Westfield State, MCLA, Holyoke Community College, Berkshire Community College, UMass, and more after 6 months of employment.
High School Diploma/GED and 18 years of age or older (May be 17 acceptable with limited responsibilities).
Valid Driver's License and Insured Vehicle
