Responsibilities:
About the role
The AVP Close & Consolidations Systems and Projects is responsible for overseeing the chart of accounts for general ledger reporting and participating in various other strategic and tactical initiatives. This team member will assist in the assessment of new initiatives, which include the implementation of new or updated processes and/or systems and determines the associated impact to the C&C/Accounting department. This role requires strong team leadership skills, specifically managing and building a best-in-class, operationally focused team and fostering effective and collaborative cross-functional relationships. The AVP of Close & Consolidations Systems and Projects is also the point of contact for internal departments, external parties, and internal and external auditors.

Direct the prioritization of activities within the department and allocate resources as needed

Oversee and maintain the global chart of accounts in various systems (general ledger and/or treasury management system)

Collaborate with cross functional leaders to design, lead and implement process transformation to drive seamless Closes and reporting processes

Lead special projects such as Oracle ERP implementation and new accounting and reporting standards implementation

Utilize knowledge of finance and accounting processes to enhance accounting controls and compliance frameworks to mitigate risks of financial statement error and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting

Conduct and/or participate in meetings with different teams throughout the organization to develop a solid understanding of upcoming and ongoing projects and the associated impact to the department

Monitor and resolve system issues

Make decisions regarding requirements, system evaluation and processes

Support internal management reporting, SEC reporting and quarterly/ year-end audits

Manage and develop team members by establishing annual performance goals and assessing annual performance

Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting-related processes and procedures
Qualifications:

Knowledge of Oracle preferred

Working knowledge of Project Management Methodologies and related tools

Background with automated financial accounting and reporting systems

Background with accounting processes that support financial accounting and reporting

Understand software development processes

Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, CPA or equivalent internationally

Strong knowledge of the Accounting Standards Codification

Strong knowledge of financial controls and account reconciliations

Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and motivate teams across geographies and functions

Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience required
-
7+ years experience working with ERP systems, preferably Oracle required
-
7+ years experience in auto finance industry required
-
5+ years management and/or leadership experience required
Licenses
-
CPA preferred, and must be active / current upon hire
