Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources and assists with recruitment, benefits, onboarding, payroll, performance, engagement, volunteerism, and wellness. This position requires that the Human Resources Generalist be extremely detail-oriented, organized, critical about accuracy, spelling and grammar and possess the ability to prioritize and follow up. This is a very fast-paced environment. This role requires a self-starter who is willing and open to learning new skills as well as taking initiative and being proactive.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Work with external recruiters as well as direct sourcing for candidates (attorney and staff) including advertising, resume review, interviews, reference checks,
background checks, hiring proposals, etc.
- Manage the onboarding and offboarding process.
- Responsible for administering benefits programs including open enrollment, new hires, qualifying events, and suggesting benefit offering changes based on
employee needs and best practices.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources with the annual performance review process.
- Collaborate with the payroll team to process bi-weekly payroll and help manage timecards weekly.
- Employee engagement, including wellness programs, volunteerism and event planning.
- Other projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- A college degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of progressively responsible experience as a Human Resources Generalist, preferably in a small to mid-sized law firm
- CLM and/or other Human Resource professional certifications preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Federal, multi-state, and various city employment laws and regulations
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate with employees and management for mutually agreed solutions
- Resourcefulness in analyzing problems or needs, evaluating alternatives, proposing options as solutions, and effective implementation of solutions
- Ability to coordinate projects, communicate changes and progress and complete them in a timely fashion within budget
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
- Strong ability to communicate effectively throughout the Firm
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with HRIS, payroll and other relevant applications and websites
