In-Home Caregiver: Dementia & Parkinson's About Us:
We are seeking a full time dedicated and experienced caregiver to provide exceptional in-home care for a family member living with late stage Dementia and Parkinson's disease on our farm in Chester County. The family member retains mobility and goes for walks however cannot materially communicate verbally. The ideal candidate will enjoy nature, taking walks, and working with a loving family to support and care for the client.
About You:
- Minimum 2 years of experience caring for people with dementia and/or Parkinson's.
- Good listening skills and understanding of communicating with people with dementia.
- Experience occupational therapy principles and ability to incorporate them into daily routines or a willingness to learn
- Able to help client perform physical therapy and speech exercises
- Experience creating a safe and stimulating environment for individuals with cognitive decline.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and positive attitude.
- Physically able to perform light housekeeping tasks and able to take walks around the farm.
- Very comfortable with dogs.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care needs, including dressing, bathing, toileting, and medication reminders.
- Perform housekeeping tasks while client is sleeping or at appointments
- Promote daily physical activities such as walks, and mental activities such as very simple puzzles
- Provide companionship and social interaction, engaging in stimulating activities tailored to the client's interests.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with family members and healthcare professionals.
