Work with a team of nurses to provide wide array of therapies and treatments to oncology, hematology, and many other patients with chronic conditions. Nurses at Edwards Center work to deliver the complete care plans prescribed by the providers.
Some of the skills exhibited include working with implanted ports (maintenance and use), delivery of chemotherapy, patient education, therapeutic phlebotomy, catheter instillation, and side effect management. Work under defined protocols to follow treatment plans, thoroughly checking all dose calculations, lab work, and clinical documentation to ensure safe and accurate rendering of care. Maintain and promote effective communication between all care providers, and ensure all patient questions and concerns are met and answered.
Chemo experience not required, but valued. Ability to learn from a tenured staff with lots of experience, then take necessary online training and competency assessments through Healthstream and Oncology Nurses Society (ONS), as well as work towards oncology certification (OCN) in the future.
Work with a clinic team to maintain an efficient patient schedule and thorough and timely documentation. Exposure to fiscal management of patient care and revenue cycle as it pertains to pre-authorizations and patient understanding. Work closely with providers to make sure all needs of patients are met and made available timely.
