JOB SUMMARY
It is the primary responsibility of the Barista is to serve guests and assist the entirety of the F&B teams while providing and prompt service and genuine hospitality to everyone. The Barista is the leader of their station and keeps the service team in constant communication. A Barista’s organization and prioritization are strong. S/he manages all of the guests’ requests while simultaneously working with support staff / dining room staff in providing efficient and warm service.
Barista’s have a deep understanding of the technical interrelationship between kitchen and dining room, food service etiquette, dining room traffic patterns as well as a mastery of the necessary steps to execute a phenomenal experience. Baristas are responsible for all aspects of service and must hold themselves and their teammates to the highest standards of service excellence. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures, as well as brand standards as outlined in the Service Manual.
JOB FUNCTIONS
· Has complete knowledge of:
· All food menu items, specifications, and allergens.
· Bar product, offering, proprietary and classic cocktails
· All menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.
· Outlet standards for organization of back bar, service well, and storage areas.
· Members of ownership, leadership, and management teams.
· Origins, operations, and concept/branding points of the entire George. & George’s Nephew
· Always provides gracious service and genuine hospitality:
· Greets guests in a positive, friendly, and welcoming manner using eye contact
· Assists guests through our spaces, through seating or wayfaring
· Bids farewell to guests, using guest’s last name when known
· Executes the service guidelines and upholds service standards outlined in training manual.
· Consistently follow sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures and techniques standardized by management.
· Must work as a team and pro-actively assist all employees in servicing guest needs with a controlled sense of urgency
· Communicates the needs of the guests to kitchen and management. Informs management of guest reactions and comments. Assists management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
· Always uses position numbers.
· Executes opening, closing, and ongoing side work
· Accurately describes and sells menu, including menu changes and daily additions.
· Responsible for entering in orders and reconciling checks in the POS system
· Delivers drinks in a timely fashion using server tray for every beverage
· Actively seeks ways to enhance and personalize the guest experience
· Is aware of all upcoming orders, status of tables expecting food, and relays this information to the Chefs and Management
· Oversees ongoing table maintenance, coordinates service at the table with bus persons and food runners. Works with bus person in clearing, crumbing, and re-setting tables.
· Maintain table cleanliness utilizing a silent service approach.
· Continues to monitor the guest for satisfaction during the entirety of their visit
· Itemize bills correctly and efficiently secure payment.
· Performs other restaurant duties as requested by management.
· Assist in making sure their station is stocked and ready for service. Leads bus persons in having all the tools at their disposal.
· Helps promote a safe and clean environment for guests and co-worker.
· Participates in service/culinary education sessions
· Follow uniform and appearance standards
· Follows and executes George. & George’s Nephew core service standards as outlined in training.
· Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division and department.
· Follow all health and safety regulations.
· Successful completion of Restaurant Training Program, as well as ongoing training and testing will be required
· Further duties not currently listed in this outline may be added at the manager’s discretion.

HEALTH & SAFETY
· Adhere to property safety standards and report all accidents to Security and Human Resources.
· Comply with all “emergency” situation including but not limited to fire alarm, colleague injury, guest injury, colleague conflict, guest conflict, Intoxicated/rowdy guests etc.
· Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately to direct supervisor
· Adhere to established standards for chemical use.
· Know and enforce George. & George’s Nephew and department’s security policies.
· Ensure work area, materials and equipment is maintained in a clean and tidy manner.
· Follow all health and safety protocols established by George. & George’s Nephew for guests and colleagues
· Must be in possession of valid driver’s license to drive company vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
· A minimum of one year experience in a full-service, preferably upscale restaurant setting
· Working understanding of coffee, tea, and other beverages and their proper service
· A highly motivated and energetic personality
· Effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms
· Broad knowledge of café service and coffee/tea/beverage.
· A strong commitment to excellence in hospitality
· Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts and team members.
· Working knowledge of Point of Sales (POS) systems and operations
· Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms.
· Working knowledge of health and safety regulations.
· Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
· Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance
· A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a fine dining restaurant or similar environment
· Previous experience working in a similar George. & George’s Nephew setting
Licenses & Certifications
· Food Safety Certification from internationally recognized institution
· Food Handlers Certificate
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to exert physical effort in lifting 50 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, climbing, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and colleagues to their understanding.
