This position is responsible for some conventional and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) cutting of mechanical parts. This position may also be asked to use pneumatic or electric hand tools to perform such tasks as deburr or surface prep of metal parts. This position must be able to follow both written and verbal work instructions as well as interface with the enterprise time keeping system as well as interface with machine controls. This position must also be able to use and read basic machine shop measuring equipment that includes, but may not be limited to dial calipers, tape measures, and protractors.
Minimum 4 years working in a machining or fabrication environment doing a variety of assignments and tasks.
Able to grind metal parts in terms of prep work or deburr to verbal and written instructions
Able to apply basic use of hand and power tools
Able to measure using dial / digital calipers and other conventional measuring devices
Able to setup and run ancillary equipment such as saws, drill press, belt sander, etc.
Able to setup and run any two of the three (laser, waterjet, and brake press)
Able to measure using height gauge and other surface plate equipment
Able to read and interpret and have a good understanding of engineering drawings
Possess general G,D&T knowledge
Able to adjust laser beam or waterjet stream to attain proper cutting parameters
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a standard manufacturing environment. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, push, pull, grasp. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and over 50 lbs. with assistance. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. The worker has protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Subject to hazards including, electrical current, moving mechanical parts, chips, dust, exposure to chemicals, debris and intense heat.
