We are looking for skilled Mobile Fleet Mechanics and Shop Mechanics who can work independently with little supervision and who have a productive professional mindset that drives them to achieve high productivity and don't have to be guided every step of the way through a repair job. You will be required to assemble, maintain, and repair commercial trucks, trailers, RV's and equipment in a timely manner. You will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of commercial trucks, commercial trailers, and RV's. engines and mechanical systems.
An excellent mechanic must have a strong work ethic, strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools and follow all safety precautions. Due to the variety of vehicle makes, specialty vehicles, and equipment we work on, you will also have to have a strong desire to educate yourself about systems you may have never worked on before. Having the ability to resource and comprehend repair/diag information from online sources or calling the manufacturer when information is unavailable through Mitchell Pro-Damand, TEXA scanner diag info, or other truck repair information sources that we have subscriptions with is a must.
Responsibilities / Skills
- Build and assemble mechanical components according to requirements
- Inspect trucks, trailers, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
- Have enough experience in the industry and truck repair experience to perform repairs within industry standard time guides.
- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
- Keep logs of work and report on issues
- Be experienced with performing diagnostics of mechanical and electrical vehicle problems.
- Be experienced in making truck repairs, estimates, test repairs, in a timely manner
- Communicate in writing and orally all estimates, diagnostics and repairs done to service writer.
- Demonstrate the ability to set and achieve performance goals for the shop as a whole and individually.
- Be a team player and help and cooperate with other team members to meet shop designated goals and sales numbers.
- Be able to work 5 days a week, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
- Have basic lube and tech skill sets, including the ability to perform lube services-oil changes.
- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, vehicles etc.)
Requirements
- Have a tool box/set.
- Ability to recommend services.
- Work well under pressure.
- Mechanical diagnostic and repair knowledge is a must.
- Electrical repair knowledge is a must.
- State Inspection license is a bonus.
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Very good communication skills
- A problem-solving ability
- Very good physical strength and stamina
- High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus
- Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36.00 - $60.00 per hour
