Job Title: "Business Systems Analyst"
General Description and Classification Standards:
The City of Atlanta is looking for a Business Systems Analyst to analyze and evaluate business requirements, consult with personnel from various departments, and develop technical solutions to automate and improve business processes. This role involves providing recommendations on new or enhanced systems, software, upgrades, and modifications. It is a fully seasoned professional level capable of independently handling most assignments typical of the profession. This level can be attained by multiple incumbents in a work group but is not an automatic promotional level.
Supervision Received:
- Works under very general supervision.
- May work independently with responsibility for an assigned function or program, depending on the organizational structure.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Analyze complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.
- Provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost-effective and meet user requirements.
- Handle projects affecting multiple systems or departments, software selection, or significant changes in processes.
- Configure system settings and options.
- Plan and execute business unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
- Create specifications for systems to meet business requirements.
- Design details of automated systems.
- Provide consultation to users regarding automated systems.
Decision Making:
- Select from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks.
- Apply and interpret organizational policies and recommend exceptions.
- Establish work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc.
Leadership Provided:
- Provide work group leadership, guidance, and training to less experienced staff.
- Lead cross-functional teams to address business issues and opportunities.

Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (equivalent professional experience may be considered as a substitute for the required degree on an exception basis).
- 5 years of specific ERP work experience, preferably with Oracle Time & Labor (OTL) and TCP Timeclocks.
- Preferred Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in computer science (equivalent professional experience may be considered as a substitute for the master’s degree on an exception basis) with 5-8 years of directly related professional experience.
