Job Responsibilities
· You must represent the mission of the office in your relationship to the doctor, patients, and co-workers.
· Proficiency in the use of the computer, printers, business and dental software necessary to perform assigned tasks and duties.
· Perform all approved duties allowed by State law to include but not limited to: prophylaxis, taking x-rays, placement of sealants, oral hygiene instructions, proper use of fluorides, performance of all soft tissue treatments not reserved by the doctor, efficient charting and documentation of treatment for procedures and related events.
· Knowledgeable in current HIPAA Privacy Policies and Practices.
· Use and care of video imaging equipment for examinations and education.
· Responsible for care and maintenance of hygiene equipment, units, instruments and supplies.
· Insure that hygiene supplies and instruments are in sufficient quantity and good working order.
· Assist the dental assistants in the care and maintenance of the x-ray equipment.
· Be knowledgeable in all aspects of infection control procedures and diligent in applying both the intent and the requirements of all rules, regulations, and laws whether originated by federal, state, or local governments or recommended by the American Dental Association or the Center for Disease Control, or required by this office.
· Proficient in the use of the computer-based recall system to productively appoint patients needing recall for follow-up hygiene services.
· Proficient in the use of computer-based scheduler and know how to schedule for goals established by the doctor.
· Create and periodically update all letters and notices to patients that relate to their hygiene needs. This will require a working knowledge of the computer’s word processing and recall programs.
· Assist the doctor, dental assistants, or the front office staff as required.
· Review monthly with the doctor the results of the previous months hygiene activities and what changes may be helpful to improve the efficiency and productivity of the hygiene department.
· Perform any other duties as required by the doctor.
· Take an ownership attitude about this practice by having a concern for excellence in your work, by generating a positive image of our practice, and by developing a caring relationship with our patients, other staff members, and the doctor.
· Help in maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork, caring and efficiency within the office.
Job Requirements
· Current RDH certification
· Maintain CE requirements
· Proficient in the use of business and dental software
