Registered Nurse (RN) – New Dual Diagnosis Unit

Registered Nurse
Responsible for implementation of the nursing process in all aspects of patient care for all patient populations including chemically dependent adults, adult psych, adolescents and children. Assures a comprehensive approach to patient care by applying appropriate theories to psychiatric nursing practice for all patients. We are offering full-time, part-time, PRN all shifts - Day, Nights and Weekends!
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The Dual Diagnosis Unit provides age-appropriate care for acute and crisis stabilization. Treatment is accomplished through a therapeutic milieu. Members of the professional staff practice as members of the treatment planning process. Each patient receives a complete psychosocial and medical assessment to determine problem areas to be addressed during and after hospitalization. Treatment includes therapeutic community groups, activities therapy, patient education activities, nursing education groups, individual, group and family therapy. Nursing services consists of registered nurses, mental health specialist, unit secretaries, phlebotomist, and activities therapist. Nursing services provide nursing assessment and re-assessment, medication administration, specimen collection, minor treatment procedures, nursing and medication education.
On the Dual Diagnosis Unit managing mental health problems while recovering from alcohol and/or drug addiction requires a skilled professional who can coordinate treatment tailored to meet the unique challenges facing each individual. You will utilize psychiatric clinical skills to provide direct patient care with an emphasis on safety. The caregiver is required to use integrated evidence-based practices of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive behavioral therapy as 12-step approach. Interacting as an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team you will also provide leadership in the department to facilitate excellent patient care.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Preferred: BSN
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION:
Licensed RN to practice in Kentucky
Current CPR
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Nursing experience providing direct patient care
Preferred: One year inpatient behavioral health work experience and one year medical/surgical nursing experience
