Summary: Rochester Childfirst Network is a sponsoring organization overseeing Family Childcare (FCC) providers who provide in-home childcare and are participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). CACFP is a federally funded child and adult nutrition assistance program designed to provide healthy meals and snacks to children and/or adults receiving day care. The Family Child Care Program Specialist is assigned a caseload of FCC Providers and is responsible for ensuring these providers operate within the regulatory guidelines of the CACFP. As this position requires travel to providers’ homes, a valid NYS Driver’s license is required.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to.
1. Conducts initial and ongoing home visits to approved Family Child Care (FCC) Providers in Monroe and Livingston counties to ensure compliance with CACFP regulatory requirements.
a. Provides initial visit to conduct orientation and deliver in-home training for new FCC providers on all aspects of CACP participation, including policies and procedures and nutritional requirements.
b. Provides ongoing home visits according to state and federal timelines to:
o Ensure providers’ continuing compliance with CACFP regulatory requirements and provide ongoing technical assistance to providers as needed. For example, providing resources like sample menus; recipes; and meal planning.
o Conduct meal monitoring and review menus (i.e., review attendance; meal types and times; meal components; and meal counts).
o Address any discrepancies noted between the monthly claims submitted by the provider for food reimbursement and the FCC Program Specialist’s meal monitoring visits.
o Ensure foods are prepared and served following food safety guidelines and quality standards.
2. Ensures records are adequately maintained by documenting and/or inputting accurate, timely and relevant information.
a. Enters enrollment of new FCC providers in CIPS Database.
b. Promptly and accurately documents all notes from initial and ongoing visits, including any concerns regarding menus in the CACFP file, Minute Menu Platform, and consultant notebook.
c. Documents all aspects of meal monitoring and menu reviews. Corrective Action, if identified, is recorded, including a follow-up action plan.
d. Documents training and technical assistance provided to FCC providers in the CACFP file.
3. Identifies training needs and develops and implements training to FCC providers.
a. Assists in identifying additional training FCC providers may need to successfully implement CACFP.
b. Develops and facilitate needed training to FCC providers.
4. Engages in partnership with FCC providers and delivers exceptional customer service.
a. Responds to phone calls, emails, and other inquiries from providers in a timely manner.
b. Seeks to find the ‘answer’ or information the FCC providers are looking for.
c. Identifies and shares relevant resources to providers.
5. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
a. Assists in the recruitment of new FCC providers to join CACFP.
b. Attends training and meetings to promote personal and professional development.
c. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Minimum AS/AA Degree plus 1-2 years’ experience or High School Diploma plus two years of customer service/office experience or experience in Family Child Care. Knowledge of CACFP preferred, but not required.
Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not supervise other staff.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, and identify patterns.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to follow specific steps and timelines. Ability to understand regulations, policies and procedures and to accurately assess whether these are being followed with fidelity. Ability to problem-solve.
Computer Skills:
Data entry is required in this position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must know Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and how to access and use the Internet. CIPS and Minute Menu database knowledge preferred, but not required.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
