Job Requirements:
Must be 18 years old or older,
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent;
Must be able to lift to 35 lbs. or more,
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in written form,
Must be teachable and willing to learn,
Must be professional and courteous at all times, especially while driving.
Must be honest and act with integrity,
Must be able to pass criminal background check,
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and be willing to drive a small company bus (non CDL bus).
Job Responsibilities:
This is a Before & After School teacher's position and this teacher will have their own students before & after school. This teacher will also be the bus driver responsible for taking the school aged children to and from school daily. This employee is considered a "floater" teacher who will step into different classrooms as the need arises during work hours. This availability has a shift from 2:30pm - 6:30pm Monday - Friday. Candidate must obtain a food handlers certificate and will be responsible for preparing & serving PM snacks. Anyone applying to this position must be reliable, dependable & prompt.
Other DFPS Licensing Requirements
- Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities;
- Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience;
- Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures;
- Ensure that no child is abused, neglected, or exploited while in the care of the center;
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to DFPS;
- Know and comply with the Texas Minimum Standards for child-care centers, especially the standards in regards to preschool care;
- Know which children you are responsible for;
- Know each child's name and have information showing each child's age;
- Supervise children at all times by Texas Minimum Standards definition,
- Ensure the children are not out of control;
- Be free from activities not directly involving the teaching, care, and supervision of children, such as: personal use of electronic devices (cell phones, MP3 players, tablets, etc.)
- Interact with children in a positive manner;
- Foster developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities;
- Foster a cooperative rather than a competitive atmosphere;
- Show appreciation of children's efforts and accomplishments;
- Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregivers information about each child's activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written instructions given by the parent.
