Job Overview:
Children often need someone to talk to when they’re trying to process a major life event, such as being bullied, moving to a new location, changing schools, or dealing with the ongoing struggle of placement in out-of-home care (foster care). Their problems affect not only how they act and feel but also how they perform in school.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Therapist to join our team at BFS. As a Therapist, you will provide counseling and therapy services to youth who have been placed with our agency. Your role will involve conducting assessments, participating in the development and updating of treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to support youth in their journey towards improved mental well-being.
This position is an in-office position, but the schedule you will be in office is very flexible to fit your own needs and the needs of the children/families that you work with. Telehealth services will be approved on an as-needed basis.
The Nitty Gritty (Your Job Duties):
- Conducts therapeutic assessments and consults with Therapeutic Support Specialist/ Treatment Director in formulating treatment plans.
- Provides individual and group counseling to placed youth and clinical consultation to foster parents.
- Complies with paperwork requirements as established by the state, contracts, standards, and licensing as well as Benchmark Family Services Inc.
- Provides crisis stabilization services for Benchmark Family Services, Inc. clients and foster caregivers.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and literature and attending in-services, conferences, and workshops.
- Assist with other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education – At least a Master’s Degree in a Human Services (or related) Field.
- Licensed as one of the following: Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist (certified or licensed), Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Professional Art Therapist, or Licensed Behavioral Analyst.
If not fully licensed as one of the above, must have a master’s degree in a Human Services field practicing under direct supervision of an individual with one of the following credentials: Psychiatrist, clinical Psychologist (certified or licensed, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Professional Art Therapist, or Licensed Behavioral Analyst. *
* We are willing to provide partial or possibly full reimbursement of supervision costs.
