Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical
Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse working in the Medical/Surgical department is responsible for providing compassionate and quality care to patients recovering from various medical conditions and surgeries. They assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
3. Monitor patient vital signs and condition, and communicate any changes to healthcare team
4. Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery
5. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
6. Maintain accurate and updated patient records
7. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as legal regulations
8. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times
9. Participate in staff meetings and continuing education opportunities
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing
4. BLS and ACLS certification
5. Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations
8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
9. Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
10. Compassion and empathy towards patients and their families
