Job Description
The successful applicant for these positions will be a qualified Nokia Routing Specialist 2 or will hold similar qualifications. They will need to be proficient in IP Routing, with a working knowledge of OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS, VPRN, SR and VPNs. The applicants will ideally have a proven track record in the implementation of IP service provider networks and will also have a good working knowledge of Nokia fixed access and optical networking technologies. They will be working for an established Managed Service Provider, monitoring and managing countrywide networks on behalf of companies who provide fiber services to Internet Service Providers. The successful applicant will be working as part of a team of Network Operations Centre engineers and so will possess good interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
· Overseeing network performance and capacity.
· Identifying potential network problems and alerting the correct personnel.
· Acceptance testing as the network expands.
· Diagnosing and troubleshooting network errors and issues.
· Tracking and documenting network errors.
· Performing root-cause-analysis and recommending corrective actions for identified issues.
· Working independently and with a team of NOC support engineers.
· Working closely with, and ensuring the delivery from, outsourced teams.
· Acting as point of escalation and collaborating with other teams to drive resolution of complex operational issues.
Requirements and Skills
Experience in network management, or enterprise networks
Skilled in IP Routing, with a particular emphasis on OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, and L2 services over L3 networks.
Some knowledge of Optical Transport Networks.
Knowledge of Fixed Access Networks.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot to a resolution, network alarms and issues and provide support to the network
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Skilled working with ticketing systems
An analytical mind with strong observation and strategic skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and part of a wider team.
The ability to learn new and evolving technology.
The ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with co-workers at all levels.
The drive, enthusiasm, and determination to succeed, with a hands-on 'can do' attitude.
Desirable
The successful applicant will ideally be qualified with NRS-1 or NRS-2 certification, although candidates with other vendor qualifications and relevant experience will be considered.
A knowledge Optical and Fixed Access networks.
Knowledge of Nokia NFM-P, NFM-T, and AMS tools.
What you will be doing
Working in our state of the Network Operations Centre (NOC), the successful applicant will be required to work as part of a team monitoring and troubleshooting a Nokia Optical Transport Network on a 24/7/365 basis. They will be working for an established Managed Service Provider, monitoring the network on behalf of companies who provide optical networks for Internet Service providers. They will be responsible for monitoring and dealing with alarms on a variety of Nokia Service Routing network elements, with support from first- and second-line support teams.
