Details: Part-Time, open until all positions filled.
Performs a variety of routine and special activities for the Public Works Department. Duties include but are not limited to Snow Plowing (winter) and cindering of Town maintained roads, parking lots, pathways, etc. Assists with routine fleet maintenance, including heavy equipment operations, sweeping, weed control and asphalt maintenance. Other job-related duties as assigned.
Divisions Within Public Works:
- Utilities: Water Distribution/Wastewater/StormWater
- Streets—maintain city streets, storm drains, snow removal and street and traffic signs and general maintenance duties.
- Utilities—maintain the water distribution system, sewer collection system and general maintenance duties.
- Sanitation—collects and disposes of solid waste from city property and picks up litter from premises.
- Sweeps, washes, paints, and repairs or replaces city property as directed.
- Performs custodial work such as required and assigned.
- Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various programs, prepares facilities for use.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from a High School or GED equivalent
- Any equivalent combination of related education and experience
- Valid Driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain a CDL driver’s license Class B with air brakes within 60 days of start date.
- Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance; some knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Skill in operation of: Lawn and landscaping equipment, mowers, chain saws, edger’s, weed trimmers, miscellaneous hand and power tools for maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, asphalt and cement finishing work.
- Ability to: work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; communicate orally and in writing; use equipment and tools properly and safely; understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
