Job Summary
This role supports the day to day operations. As part of this responsibility, the bookkeeper will work closely with the office manager. The bookkeeper will work to develop and manage reports, financial statements, accounts payable and key performance metrics. A successful bookkeeper must have the ability to function as a part of a team and be able to think creatively and critically.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the General Manager in developing the company annual plan.
- Perform all accounting activities relating to G/L, A/R, A/P and payroll.
- Produce company financial statements within 5 business days after the close of each month.
- Work closely with the General Manager to ensure that collection of money is occurring at the point of service, or proper paperwork for financing is being signed at the point of service.
- Manage accounts payable to take advantage of all available discounts from vendors. Where discounts are not available, pay accounts in 30 to 45 days. Avoid any finance charges being assessed for late payment.
- Report to GM if company-owned material expense exceeds SGI’s benchmarks.
- Be responsible for the collecting and archiving of key performance data, such as number of calls run, number of leads run, average sale amounts, closing ratios, customer renewal percentages, etc. Produce statistical data for GM.
- Manage the company assets, such as vehicles, information systems, and communication systems, as it pertains to accounting.
- Collect and assemble the daily report information from the managers and provide the daily report to the General Manager by noon each day for the previous day’s business.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.
- Ability to resolve client complaints concerning billing or services rendered, referring complaints of service failures to the General Manager.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow the Company’s Operating Procedure Manuals.
- Understand double-entry General Ledger accounting.

As a CPA and Bookkeeper for our plumbing company, your primary responsibility is to manage the financial aspects of the business.
Your role includes:1. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the company's budget, including revenue projections, expense allocations, and cash flow forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide insights for decision-making.
3. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax. Identify potential tax deductions and credits to minimize the company's tax liability
4. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the company's financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improvement. Analyze key financial metrics, such as profitability, liquidity, and efficiency ratios
5. Cost Management: Monitor and analyze costs related to operations, materials, and labor. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize expenses without compromising quality.
6. Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure financial accuracy. Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.
7. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure the availability of funds for daily operations, payables, and receivables. Implement strategies to improve cash flow, such as optimizing collection processes and managing vendor relationships.
8. Financial Planning and Strategy: Work with the management team to develop long-term financial plans and strategies. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth, expansion, and investment decisions.
9. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific regulations relevant to the plumbing industry. Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
10. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and administration, to gather and analyze financial data. Communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders, including management, owners, and external parties like auditors and tax authorities.
11. Software and Systems: Utilize accounting software and systems to record and track financial transactions, generate reports, and streamline processes. Stay updated with technology advancements in accounting and finance.
12. Professional Development: Stay current with accounting and finance best practices, industry trends, and changes in regulations. Maintain professional certifications and participate in relevant training and development programs.
